About Val

Val Moore - Celebrant. Certificate in Celebrant Studies. Member of CANZ.

My husband and I live in the beautiful Clevedon area. We have 4 wonderful sons, 4 lovely daughters in law and 3 amazing grandchildren. I am Scottish by birth and moved to New Zealand in 1975, am a New Zealand Citizen and very proud to be so... a Scottish Kiwi. My working life in New Zealand has mainly been with Air New Zealand, a company I have been extremely proud to work for. I have had a variety of roles but always with a people/customer focus.

We lived in Fiji for six years where I worked for the New Zealand High Commission. During my time in Fiji I became a founder member and Secretary for the Fiji New Zealand Education Trust where we raised money to put disadvantaged children through school.

I was also President of the International Women's Association. This was an organisation of women from all over the world and from all walks of life. This was an amazing opportunity to get to know women from different ethnic backgrounds and something I was privileged to be a part of. On our return from Fiji I became a member of the Board of the New Zealand Life Education Trust and after moving to Clevedon am now an active member of the Clevedon Lions Club.

My working life and my community involvement both here and in Fiji, not forgetting my Scottish/Celtic heritage and my wonderful family has given me a wide understanding of people and their differences. This has been pivotal to my being a celebrant. I also have a love of writing (poetry especially) which also is beneficial as creating unique ceremonies is my passion.

One of the proudest moments of my life was graduating from the Celebrant School as I knew this was exactly what I wanted to be doing. Being with people at the most important times of their lives is a privilege and one which I love and cherish.
